A Good Summer!

Filed: Sunday, August 23, 2015 at 8:22 AM

After a terrible June and first part of July, the weather has turned around nicely for us! We have now flown over 500 passengers so far this year.

Each year for some reason, many people wait until the end of the season to call us and are disappointed. We get booked solid. The days and nights are now getting cooler and that means with the change of seasons, it gets more windy and rainy. I even see "lake effect rain" in this week's forecast. Just like lake effect snow, we get rain in the fall. The cold air crossing the warm waters of the Great Lakes makes this a reality.

We have had many memorable flights so far this year including many marriage proposals and even a wedding aloft. Some of the photos that have appeared on our Facebook site are incredible! I have my fingers crossed that we can get in many more before we quit for the season on October 15th.

A New Beginning

Happy 2015 to all! I wish you a safe, happy and healthy New Year.

2014 had it's ups and downs in the ballooning business (please pardon the pun). We had many days of rain, especially late afternoons in our flight window. September was especially nice and we regained a lot of our flights and in the end, we had an average year with over 700 happy passengers experiencing the time of their lives. I had many kind comments of "It's the best thing that I have ever done!". You couldn't say anything nicer to me.

I am already excited planning the upcoming 2015 season, my 28th flying lighter than air craft. My pilot-friend Kevin Raymond and I did get a neat flight in on 12/21 over Letchworth. We will do several wintertime flights to keep our skills sharp. It is some of my favorite flying.

We have a nice site on Facebook: "Friends of Balloon Over Letchworth". Please join us. I put many beautiful balloon photos and articles on it and try to keep it interesting.

Our 14th annual Letchworth Red, White & Blue Balloon Rally will be held over Memorial Day weekend. 30 balloons will grace the skies for 6 planned flights. We still have room for some passengers. Give us a call.

The Holidays!

Filed: Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at 3:15 PM

Here we are already! Halloween is a memory and my favorite, Thanksgiving, is coming up fast. I am already seeing Christmas TV ads and hearing Christmas music. Man, I haven't even mowed my lawn for the last time yet!

On November 22nd, we will again set up a balloon basket and display at Eastern Hills Mall near Buffalo. We will be there through New Years and we will be located right by the food court. (my favorite place). I expect to spend quite a bit of time there, especially weekends. I love talking ballooning with people and it is a great place to 'people watch'. If you are in the area, please stop to say "hello".

A large part of our yearly business is done at Christmas time. Our Boarding Pass gift certificates are extremely popular. We include our professionally produced DVD "Experience the Magic" with certificates for two or more. It's great fun to watch on Christmas morning and dream about your balloon flight.

We have two "easy pay" systems. We can space your payments interest free over 4 months beginning in January if you would like, with a credit card or you may send checks. You may also purchase on our web site via Paypal and have interest free payments for 6 months if you pay it in full.

I wish everyone a safe and happy holiday season. It will go by fast and soon we will be back in the sky, having fun! Cheers!

These were the best of times....

Filed: Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at 9:23 AM

Another season has come and gone. My 26th flying hot air balloons. 2013 certainly had it's ups and downs if, you don't mind the pun. For the first time ever, we went 20 straight days without being able to fly. We also had several spurts of great weather when we were able to fly for 7-8 days straight. Everyone wants to wait until October to see the pretty leaves and it is usually very unreliable. We got rained out 6 out of seven days of the first week and then flew every day for a week! As I am writing this, wet snow is in the forecast and the leaves are well beyond peak. Time for a long winter's nap.

Speaking of winter, we will have a balloon basket display set up again this year beginning on November 22nd at Eastern Hills Mall in Williamsville. Right by the food court. Stop by and say hello!
