Balloons Over Letchworth

LAUNCH SITE: We launch from the Middle - Upper Falls picnic area at the south end of the park, next to the snack bar. Turn at the “Ballooning” sign just south of the Glen Iris. Due to wind direction, the launch site is sometimes changed and you will be informed when you arrive.

We are located at the south end of the park near the Glen Iris Inn, an approximate one hour drive from either the Rochester or the Buffalo International airports. Please arrive at your designated time. Rest rooms are located at our launch site.

We are located in Western New York, approximately a hour south of Rochester, a hour east of Buffalo, and seven hours west of NYC. Allow plenty of travel time.

IMPORTANT! If you enter Letchworth from one of the northern entrances, head south on the main park road and turn left at the “Ballooning” sign just past the Glen Iris Inn. Do not enter the park on the east side “Parade or Barracks Grounds” entrances. That is the wrong side of the river and you can’t get to us from there. Please adhere to the park speed limits (25 and 40 mph). Numerous deer are crossing the roads right at our flight times. Please drive safely!

FROM ROCHESTER: Rt. 390 south to exit 7 (Mt. Morris), turn left to Main St. then left on Main and first right on Rt. 408 south to Nunda. Turn right (west) at traffic light on Rt. 436, go past the Letchworth “Parade Grounds” entrance and go through Portageville. Right on Rt. 19A and park entrance is 1/4 mile on your right. Enter the park and make your first right at the “Ballooning” sign, just before the Glen Iris Inn.

FROM BUFFALO: Take Rt. 400 south to the East Aurora exit. Turn left on Rt. 20A to Warsaw. Right on Rt. 19 (Main St.). Continue to Rt. 19A and turn left. Just past Castile turn left on Denton Corners Rd. at the “Letchworth Park” sign. Continue to the main park road and turn right and pass the Glen Iris Inn. Turn left at the “Ballooning” sign immediately after the inn’s parking lot.

FROM CORNING/ELMIRA: Rt. 86 (former Rt. 17) west to 390 north to exit 4, Dansville. Left on Rt. 36, left on Jefferson St. then left on Rt. 436 west through the Village of Nunda. Pass the Letchworth “Parade Grounds” entrance and go through Portageville. Right on Rt. 19A and park entrance is 1/4 mile on your right. Enter the park and make your first right at the “Ballooning” sign.
